In this study, scientists from Sweden have analyzed the association between use of mobile and cordless phones and glioma. The survival analysis was conducted with 1678 glioma patients in their case-control studies between 1997–2003 and 2007–2009. They have found elevated hazard ratio (HR) in astrocytoma grade IV, a.k.a. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most aggressive, most invasive, deadly type of adult brain cancer. Highest HR was found for cases with first use of wireless phones before the age of 20 years. The least affected group was low-grade astrocytomas. Nevertheless, the scientists have reported increased risk for both low-grade (grade I–II) and high-grade astrocytoma (grade III–IV) associated with use of mobile and cordless phones.
