Cancer Research Simplified Appoints New Board Members
Somerville, MA….Today, Cancer Research Simplified announced its newest board members, Claudia Bertuccio, Ph.D, and Mr. Mike Ryan, whom have been appointed at the Board meeting on October 20, 2014, and Ewa Wybieralaska, Ph.D., who was appointed at the Board meeting on December 15, 2014. These new board members have been appointed to help spearhead Cancer Research Simplified’s phenomenal growth in its research and fundraising activities, according to Dr. Ayguen Sahin, CEO and Founder of Cancer Research Simplified. “We are pleased to have all of these remarkable individuals on the Board,” says Dr. Sahin, “Our goal is to bring everyone’s outstanding skills to the table along with our amazing volunteers to further develop our ‘simplified’ cancer education programs, already highly sought after worldwide.”
Dr. Wybieralaka, Dr. Bertuccio, and Mr. Ryan have been diligently working for CRS over the past year, with extensive involvement in all CRS activities, including determining funding, writing for CRS’s official journal, the Journal of Simplified Cancer Research (JSCR), organizing the upcoming 2015 Cancer Symposium Series, and coordinating press and media relations.
All have contributed to spreading CRS’s mission throughout the world, resulting in 35,762 amount of hits on the website and 11,103 amount of hits on Youtube, writing and editing the Journal of Simplified Cancer Research, producing large number of ‘daily’ educational pictures, organizing many fundraisers, sports and recreation events, and securing important grants, such as the most recent one from Genentech (see September 25, 2014 press release).
About the three new board members:
Claudia Bertuccio, Ph.D. Director, Research Team Member, and Spanish Translator
Dr. Bertuccio received her B.Sc. and PhD degree in Biological Sciences and Physiology, respectively, from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow and Research Associate in the School of Medicine at Yale University and the University of Pittsburgh. During her postdoctoral studies she developed an extensive background in Cellular and Molecular Biology, studying the signaling pathways responsible for metabolic human diseases and identifying intracellular molecules that can be used in therapeutic strategies. During her scientific career, she won several awards and fellowships from CONICET, National Kidney Foundation Research, and James Hudson Brown - Alexander B. Coxe Foundation. She has been invited as speaker at several scientific meetings. She had the opportunity to teach Cellular/Molecular Biology, Physiology, Physiopathology and Histology courses in different prestigious Universities in Argentina and won the Young Investigator Educational Enhancement Award at the University of Buenos Aires. In the past, she also gained experience in clinical research trials doing an internship at MAT & Asociados, Clinical Research Organization and collaborating in a clinical research of Merck Laboratories in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
Ewa Wybieralska, Ph.D. Director, Events Coordinator
Dr. Wybieralska is a practicing academic scientist with 10 years’ experience in molecular and cellular biology. She received her MSc and PhD degrees from Jagiellonian University in Poland. She completed some of her work at the Centre de Biophysique Moleculaire, in Orleans, France, the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Wroclaw, Poland and Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Polish Academy of Sciences. Currently she is a postdoctoral fellow at the Departments of Anesthesia and Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston and a member of the American Heart Association. Her research focuses on the factors determining cancer metastasis with a special attention to cancer cell migration. She worked on human melanoma, prostate and breast cancer cells, and most recently, cardiac primary tumors and metastases. She is an author of several scientific papers and abstracts presented at international conferences.
Michael E. Ryan Director, Public Relations and Development Manager
Mr. Ryan has over 18 years of experience in sales in international business-to-business communications. He most recently served for seven years as the Assistant Director of Sales for the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the largest association for eye and vision research in the field. He excelled at bringing research scientists together with industry by engaging both parties via exhibitions, publications and interactive means. He is a featured speaker at healthcare events, and a fighter for global wellness.
