Organic labeling 

The term “organic” has a legal label definition for you to know what you are buying. Look for this “USDA Organic” seal on foods.

The meaning of the word "organic" on food label:
  1. “100% ORGANIC”: The product must contain only organically produced ingredients (except for water and salt which are considered natural).
  2. “ORGANIC”: The product must contain at least 95% organic ingredients (except for water and salt). Up to 5% are non-organic agricultural products that are not available as organic or that are on an USDA-approved List.
  3. “MADE WITH ORGANIC INGREDIENTS”​: This label is used if the product contains at least 70% organic ingredients (except for water and salt). A number of constrains are present related to the ingredients of the non-organic portion of the product.
