CERI Research Team Member
Description:
The CERI Research Team Member researches current advances in cancer research and writes articles on such advances as determined, as well as informative disease guides to the layman, which latter will be determined based on the CERI Research Team Member’s scholarly background. He/she will also create further educational materials. The CERI Research Team Member will directly contribute in support of CERI’s work and expand CERI’s educational programs.
Key responsibilities:
• The CERI Research Team Member researches current advances in cancer research, scientific articles, and disease-specific literature.
• He/she writes articles to the layman.
• Prepares further educational materials.
• Works closely with the Executive Director and/or assigned Committee Chair for proper finalization of projects at hand.
• Meets pressing deadlines.
• Attends the weekly CERI Research Team Member meeting, online or in-person.
• Communicate with the CERI Translation Team Members
• Aids in proofreading materials as necessary.
• Serves as a natural ambassador for the organization.
• Aids in social media and fundraising efforts.
• Other duties as assigned.
Reports to the Executive Director and/or assigned Committee Chair
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Interest and/or experience in cancer research, writing articles.
- Undergraduate, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, or professionals with a focus on medicine, cancer research, health care, public health, psychology, nursing, and pharmacy.
- Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly organized
- Ability to produce high-quality work on critical deadlines
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Bilingualism is a plus

Location:
The CERI Research Team Member will mainly work remotely.
The Length of Appointment:
This position requires a commitment for a minimum of 12 months. After an initial 3-month test period, he/she may be eligible for a full-year reappointment at the discretion of the supervisor to complete a full year.
Time Commitment:
Hours are flexible. Generally, 1-2 hours for 2-3 days per week, depending on his/her successfully accomplishing his/her assigned projects and organizational deadlines.
Development opportunities and recognition:
After successful completion of a full year, he/she may be promoted to a managerial role within the organization at the discretion of the supervisor. Volunteers are highly valuable members of CERI and each volunteer makes a true difference in CERI’s work to provide the necessary education to cancer patients and the general public. CERI recognizes volunteers who successfully completed their placement. Special recognition is given yearly for outstanding volunteers.
Support:
Training for this position will be provided. Also, the Executive Director and/or assigned committee chair will be available for questions.
