Web Development Manager Volunteer/Internship - Joomla! or Wordpress
Key responsibilities:
-Maintain and further develop the content of the website
-Integrate online tools, widgets, for fundraising, advocacy and outreach
-Plan and assist with additional needs to develop a professional website
-Assist in the maintenance and expansion of Cancer Education and Research Institute (CERI) social networks
-Works closely with Executive Director and/or assigned Committee Chair for properly finalization of projects at hand.
-Meets pressing deadlines.
-Attends monthly meetings, online or in-person.
-Serves as a natural ambassador for the organization.
-Other duties as assigned.
Reports to the Executive Director and/or assigned Committee Chair
Required Qualifications & Skills:
-Experience (or recent graduates/final year) in website development using Joomla (please describe on resume and provide link to at least one of your work)
-Solid knowledge in MySQL, JavaScript, PHP, XML, jQuery, or AJAX
-Solid knowledge in CSS
-Knowledge in e-commerce/shopping cart systems
-Knowledge in other content management systems, SEO
-Detailed experience with HTML/XHTML (please describe on resume)
-Proficiency with FTP applications
-Understanding of social media platforms
-Personal computer required
Additional preferred skills:
-Self-motivated, creative and strategic thinker, detail oriented, highly organized
-Ability to produce high quality work on critical deadlines
-Ability to troubleshoot technical problems
-Works independently, but must be a team player
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Looking for career development
-Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment

Must provide a proof of active health insurance. International students in the US are also required to provide verification for eligibility of volunteering from their school or international offices.
The Length of Appointment:
This position requires a commitment for a minimum of six months. After six months, he/she may be eligible for a six months reappointment at the discretion of the supervisor to complete a full year.
Development opportunities and recognition:
After a successful completion of a full year, he/she may be promoted to a managerial role within the organization at the discretion of the supervisor. Volunteers are highly valuable members of CERI and each volunteer makes a true difference in CERI’s work to provide the necessary education to cancer patients and the general public. CERI recognizes volunteers who successfully completed their placement. Special recognition is given yearly for outstanding volunteers.
