Cancer Education and Research Institute® CERI’s Recommendations for the United Nations Fourth High-level Meeting on NCDs and Mental Health

On May 2nd 2025, the Cancer Education and Research Institute® (CERI) participated in the United Nations Multi-stakeholder Hearing on NCDs and Mental Health in New York- a pivotal gathering of global leaders, policymakers, and advocates shaping the agenda for the upcoming High-Level Meeting on NCDs.

Representing the voices and experiences of patients worldwide, CERI contributed frontline insights and evidence-based recommendations to advance equitable, personalized, and comprehensive cancer care on the global stage.

Our participation underscores CERI’s leadership in pioneering patient-centered solutions and our commitment to ensuring that no patient is left behind in the global response to cancer and other noncommunicable diseases.

Pioneering Personalized, Equitable, and Comprehensive Cancer Care

At CERI, we call on the global community and UN Member States to:

  • Make personalized cancer care accessible to all:
Support models that tailor treatment to each patient’s biology, finances, and cultural context, as demonstrated by our CERI Personalized Patient Program™’s 90%+ success rate.

  • Eliminate economic toxicity:
Implement policies that protect families from catastrophic health expenditures and ensure equitable access to essential treatments.

  • Invest in prevention and youth education:
Prioritize early intervention and prevention programs, especially for children and youth, to reduce future cancer burden.

  • Address environmental and systemic risk factors:
Tackle pollution, climate-driven disasters, and health system gaps that increase cancer risk and limit access to care.

  • Integrate psychosocial support:
Embed culturally sensitive mental health and psychosocial services throughout the cancer journey.

  • Promote public education and health literacy:
Deliver accessible, multilingual education to empower communities for prevention, early detection, and effective care.

  • Foster multisectoral partnerships:
Build strong collaborations across sectors to drive innovation and sustainable impact in cancer control.
